Reverent Docility
-
by Joye L. Henrie
A mask glued upon the face
Manages to protect the heart
Hiding an imaginary disgrace
Forcing Heart and the world apart
(as if at it completely alone)
The mask converges to cobblestone.
A new world created of no other sort
A protection of the fragility within
Isolation is a last resort
Loneliness to the heart’s chagrin
Distance feels as fresh breath anew
Oh dear population! – adieu, adieu!
A grievous matter quaking the eye
(erratic monsoons or dry desert floors)
Self imprisonment forces the spirit to die
And so to face - that it abhors
To walk unshielded on open plains
Complete reservation - Heart still abstains.
All is not certain, it will always be so
Isolation surprisingly requires a rest
Certainty, safety, shielding - forgo
Heart and Mind know it is wise to test
Yet spirit isn't left completely to chance
Deliberation required - the energy to enhance.
